Byker

Our flagship Byker optician is a renowned for serving exceptional eyecare to the east end of Newcastle.

Starting off as Peepers in 1988, this was taken over by technician Donald Revely and Mark Legard in 1990 as Tynedale Opticians.

Optometrist Vik Kumar, while doing an MSc, took over in 2006 and moved to new premises 110-112 shields road, formerly a mattress shop and rebranded as Tynedale Eye Clinic- fully equipped with a fundus camera, phoropter and Nidek.

In 2008 our senior optometrist, Shahed, joined the team as resident in Byker and supervised the training of our Optometrists for their qualifying exams. 

We prioritise patient satisfaction and use leading diagnostic technology to ensure accurate prescriptions and early detection of eye conditions, whilst offering a wide selection of stylish eyewear.
